Resource for last will and testament
Posted by Anonymous . updated on 2/3/2008
Is there an online resource that provides a guide or form to write a simple will for a Virginia resident living in Virginia? A family member is traveling out of the US very soon and does not have the time or finances to visit an attorney. She wants to write a simple will to insure that if she died by accident while traveling her family would not have any difficulties in settling her modest estate. She has a husband and two children. She would not need a trust or any complex instructions within the will. Thank you.

There are two quick options you could look at. First, she might not need a will at all. If she just wants her husband to have all her property, Virginia's intestacy laws should take care of that. Second, she could look for a book in the local library. There are lots of published resources to help individuals write their own wills. If neither of these options sounds acceptable, I would be happy to talk to your family member over the phone and/or email. I'm sure we could work out a solution quickly and for a low cost.
