Robert H. Kapp's Summary

Robert Kapp practices principally in the tax area. He devotes considerable time to tax controversy matters, and represents clients in the federal courts and before the Internal Revenue Service. He advises a number of universities, hospitals, charitable organizations, and other nonprofit organizations on tax and other matters. He also counsels clients on issues surrounding corporate social responsibility. He has served as an arbitrator and a mediator in a number of commercial disputes.

Robert entered private practice and joined Hogan & Hartson in 1961. Prior to that and upon graduation from law school, he entered the Attorney General's Honors Program and served as a trial attorney in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. 

Robert has taught federal taxation courses at the National Law Center, George Washington University. He has written on a variety of subjects relating to federal tax law and has lectured at professional seminars and institutions. 

Robert has been active in organizations dedicated to the advancement of civil rights and civil liberties. He is past-national Co-chairman of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He is the Co-founder and Co-President of the International Senior Lawyers Project, which makes experienced lawyers available, on a pro bono basis, to provide assistance on international human rights, economic developments, and rule of law projects. He is also a member of the boards of a number of other public interest law groups.
