Jim Rumball is a partner whose practice focuses mainly on complex structured finance transactions and securitizations. Jim’s practice also includes derivative products, secured and asset-based lending and corporate and commercial finance matters.
Jim acts regularly for investment banks, asset originators, lenders, borrowers, credit rating agencies and other active participants in the Canadian structured finance market, as well as other firms utilizing securitization and structured finance technology in private financings. Jim has extensive experience in structuring some of the most complex and innovative transactions undertaken in the Canadian market including term securities backed by pools of securitized or synthetically securitized assets. Many of the transactions Jim works on are funded through private placements, predominantly in the commercial paper market, and are therefore not included in the firm's representative transactions. Jim speaks regularly at the leading industry conferences.
Jim is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of structured finance and in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory as a repeatedly recommended practitioner in the area of asset securitization.
