    My duties involved gathering news and giving live on-air field reports, writing and reading hourly newscasts, and performing various engineering duties as needed. 

     My duties involved performing legal research on Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment issues, responding to Habeas Corpus petitions, transcribing surveilliance recordings, writing motions and memoranda, and assisting with trial preparation. 

      From April, 2003 until April, 2004, I worked in the newsroom of KTRS Radio in St. Louis.  This was a great experience which gave me a grasp of local/state politics and enabled me to become comfortable speaking in public.  This experience was also beneficial in that the newswriting skills I acquired seem to carry over into the legal world.  Newswriting is known for being succinct, clear, and non-pretentious.  One complaint I have heard from both in and outside of the legal world is that lawyers tend to use esoteric language when it is not necessary to do so.  Writing radio broadcasts helped keep me grounded when I went to law school and enabled me to resist the temptation to try and "sound like a lawyer" in my writing.
