María currently has her own law practice in Naples, Florida. She concentrates her practice on civil litigation with a special focus on commercial, landlord/tenant and real estate disputes. She also handles probate litigation.
Before establishing her own law practice in June of 2009, she was an Associate in the Litigation Group at Cohen & Grigsby, a firm in Bonita Springs and Naples, Florida, and she was an Associate with Siket, Solis & Maher, a firm in Naples, Florida.
She also has prior experience in criminal law, having served as an assistant state attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit for the State of Florida from 2000 to 2004.
María has a strong commitment to community service giving back to her local community. She served as a member of the American Cancer Society in Miami; board member for the Naples Chapter of the American Cancer Society in 2001 and 2002. Today, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Shelter for Abused Women and also Opera Naples,Inc. She participates in the Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and volunteers for the Children's Advocacy Center.
Her affiliation with legal entities includes serving as a member of the Collier County Bar Association, Lee County Bar Association, Collier County Women’s Bar Association and the Thomas S. Biggs Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
María is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French, enabling her to assist a diverse group of clients. She was honored for her outstanding pro bono service in 2000.
Education
In addition to her J.D., Maria has a Master in Health Services Administration from Florida International University.
